A small collection of Crane family papers, 1787-1881, includes four penmanship notebooks, two belonging to Abijah Crane, 1787, and two belonging to Horatio Nelson Crane, 1815-17; family correspondence among Boston weigher and gauger Horatio Nelson Crane, his brother Joseph Bennet, sisters Rachel H. Smith and Mary Ann Crane, parents Abijah and Mary Ann Crane, and children, Jacob Homer, Julia C, and Silas Pierce Crane; accounts and receipts; deeds for land in Boston; Crane and Homer family genealogical notes; miscellaneous printed material; an Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company election broadside; railroad tickets; and newspaper clippings. Also included is Abigail W. Crane's incomplete copy of Alexander Pope's An Essay on Man.
